Anglesey motorcyclist who died in Bangor crash was ‘devoted husband and father’

Jonathan Rigby was 47 years old and lived on Anglesey.

He died following a crash on January 30 at the top of the A487 Faenol Hill, near to the junction of Penrhos Road, and involved a Honda motorcycle being ridden by Mr Rigby, and a grey Volkswagen Tiguan.

Mr Rigby died at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, having been transferred there after the crash.

In a statement issued via North Wales Police, his family said: “Jon Rigby was a 47-year-old, music-loving, healthy, active man, devoted husband and father to their daughter, sons and grandfather to their two granddaughters.

“Jon had recently moved to Anglesey to live out his dreams with his loving wife but tragically, this is now no longer a possibility.

“As a family, we now need time to grieve the man we have lost and the future we will now no longer be able to have.

“We would all like to pass on our sincere thanks to all the first responders, off-duty doctors and nurses, and by-standers who provided medical assistance in such a difficult situation.

“We would also like to pass on our thanks to North Wales Police for all their assistance.”

The driver of the Tiguan has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and was released under investigation.

Sergeant Liam Morris, of North Wales Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “We continue to urge anybody who may have witnessed the collision and are yet to speak to us, or anybody who may have been travelling along the A487 around the time of the collision, or just prior, to contact us.”

Anybody with information that could assist with the ongoing investigation is urged to contact the force via its website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 25000079908.
