During the summer, seasonal guardians are working to protect one of Wales’ most significant natural areas.

Two wardens, employed by the Sea Watch Foundation

Two wardens, employed by the Sea Watch Foundation, will be stationed at Newborough National Nature Reserve and Forest on Anglesey until September, in collaboration with Natural Resources Wales (NRW). Their responsibilities include interacting with visitors to increase awareness about nesting birds, mitigate fire hazards and littering, minimize disruptions to marine mammals and birds caused by boats, and provide information about the site and its wildlife. These positions are financed through Llwyddo’n Lleol 2050 to enhance the skills of local residents as part of the ARFOR project, which focuses on supporting communities that are strongholds of the Welsh language. The wardens will be present on site seven days a week, mainly on Ynys Llanddwyn.
