Ynys Môn MP celebrates St David’s Day promoting Welsh businesses in London

THE MP for Ynys Môn, Virginia Crosbie celebrated St David’s Day by promoting the country’s entrepreneurs and businesses at two high-profile events in London.

Mrs Crosbie joined other Welsh MPs and the Welsh secretary, Simon Hart, at Lancaster House for the Taste of Wales event on Monday evening (February 28).

It showed some of the finest Welsh food and drink on offer, and provided guests with the opportunity to meet some Welsh producers, learn more about their products, and taste a selection of the best Welsh produce.

On St David’s Day itself, Mrs Crosbie went to 10 Downing Street to introduce Welsh ministers to several Anglesey entrepreneurs and community leaders, including Dafydd Gruffydd from Menter Môn.

A Welsh choir sang and Welsh crafts were on show.

She said: “It was a busy but very fruitful St David’s Day for me as I did all I could to highlight the brilliant produce and go getting we have on Anglesey and across the country.

“Both events were really good, and they really made the case that Wales has so much to offer in terms of world-beating produce and world-conquering business owners hungry to trade and proud to be from Wales.

“It was particularly good to go to meet up with local people at Downing Street who are helping to drive our local economy here on the island.

“It certainly was a Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus.”

Mrs Crosbie also attended an Eisteddfod organised by Welsh MPs Fay Jones, Hywel Williams and Beth Winter in the State Rooms at the Speaker’s House in the House of Commons.

The event celebrated Welsh heritage and culture through a variety of Welsh musicians in the spirit of an “Eisteddfod” and was then followed by a reception.
